These wool blankets are dyed in Norfolk using natural woad indigo pigment, which they grow organically on the farm there. They're part of a small organisation called Produced in Norfolk which works to protect rural skills from dying out, such as thatching and cider making and wild bee keeping. Picture: Woad Inc.

Sasha Gibb

Textile designer Sasha Gibb makes her work - cushions, throws and patchwork - from salvaged vintage British wool blankets, which she re-dyes and sews from her small workshop in Jersey. She also makes French hemp and linen sheets for hanging over windows as rudimentary (but great looking) curtains. The pieces are all one-offs and are hardwearing, washable and "designed with real living in mind", she says. Pictures: Sasha Gibb.

Odd Limited

Lovely things from Brigette Buchanan's beautiful company, Odd. Her "stripe dream" and "maud" cushions are on my wish list. I'd like to while away this afternoon on one of her rocking seats - in a shady spot, with a book. Pictures: Brigette Buchanan.

Blankets
I don't think it's possible to have too many blankets in your life. I like to have one within reach at (almost) all times - especially if there is TV watching involved. Vintage Welsh ones are lovely, but I'm also quite partial to these lambswool ones from Johnstons, too.
