Belle Heir
Belle Heir sells the most exquisite vintage clothes for babies (and up to five-year-olds) - proper antiques, really, rather that mere second-hand clothes. The spotty dress here is Belgian from the 1930s; the middle, crocheted dress is from the 1920s, and the gingham coat is 1960s. Unique treasures, with price tags to match. Pictures: Belle Heir.

Sasha Gibb
Textile designer Sasha Gibb makes her work - cushions, throws and patchwork - from salvaged vintage British wool blankets, which she re-dyes and sews from her small workshop in Jersey. She also makes French hemp and linen sheets for hanging over windows as rudimentary (but great looking) curtains. The pieces are all one-offs and are hardwearing, washable and "designed with real living in mind", she says. Pictures: Sasha Gibb.

Lazy Giraffe
Deepa makes beautiful jewellery by hand in her small home-studio in Cambridge. Everything is made in very limited editions and is amazingly inexpensive. For example, these sweet glass-and-silver earrings are just £20, and you can buy these three stacked 14ct gold rings (one textured, two smooth) for a mere £22. Pictures: All Things Original.

Ocabini
Very sweet stripey cashmere baby blankets from Ocabini - they're hand-dyed, sun-dried and hand-spun in Nepal, and are £130 each. Picture: Ocabini.

The Original Canvas Bucket Bag Company
I am keen on these simple, hardwearing canvas bucket bags with rope handles - good for logs or laundry or for the beach. They come in four sizes, the biggest costing just £25, plus postage from the Isle of White. Pictures: The Original Canvas Bucket Bag Company.

Ace & Jig
I really, really want this dress, but it's about £125, plus shipping from Atlanta, plus customs charges. Expensive, then. Damn you, weak pound. Picture: Les Nouvelles.

Celia Lewis
I absolutely love Surrey artist Celia Lewis's watercolours of pigs - painted from life, in her garden, of her own Gloucester Old Spots. Her paintings start at just £50, mounted and including postage, which I think is amazingly cheap. Pictures: Celia Lewis.

These beautiful and delicate blue-and-white ceramics are made in Edinburgh by Lara Scobie, and sold on a brilliant new-to-me website Seek&Adore. Pictures: Seek&Adore.

Marley Boutique
Marley Boutique is a really small range of inexpensive but rather lovely clothes for children, all handmade in London. I love this floral shirt (£28) and bloomers (£26). Pictures: Marley Boutique.

Furla Guggenheim
I hardly ever see handbags I like, so I actually had to accost (or, rather, make my husband accost) a stranger sitting at a cafe in Paris yesterday when I saw her carrying this one. It has a long, stripey cotton strap (see bottom pic) so that you can wear it across your body, and is mottled black leather with a green suede pocket on the front. In the flesh it's literally the nicest handbag the world has ever seen, and I'm starting to save up for it right now. Although I'm slightly concerned it doesn't appear to be on their website - only this one, which isn't as nice. Pictures: Endless.com

Nice Things
The lovely (but quite terribly named label) Nice Things is from Barcelona. They have shops across Europe, and sell in the UK in stores like Nola, Fashion Dispensary, Attic and Get My Fashion. I particularly love the bottom dress; it's silk and embroidered and not bad value for £100, I reckon; buy it here. Pictures: Nice Things.
